The next time you get into a pointless online “scandal score” debate, here’s a potentially good link.skepticfiles.org/xhate/martyr-1.htm

It’s from “skeptic files,” whatever that is, but it’s a cool stumper for the arrogant ignoramuses who think listing Catholic sins proves anything.

Yeah–one thing I’ve learned is that Protestants avoid the scandal score debate by only going on the offensive. Point out their own sins and they either ignore it or say things aren’t sins.

Considering “martyr-2” is the exact opposite angle, I don’t see what this concludes other than that both “sides” have made some terrible errors in the past, and hopefully everyone has learned from them. I see no benefit for continued clashes in this regard, and I refuse to argue with anyone on that matter.

Finally, I have no clue what this has to do with Apologetics, but maybe this is something that you prefer discussing this stuff somewhere. Stirring emotions for stirring emotions sake serves no benefit from the standpoint of theological understanding, which I hope is the general premise of this board.

The point he is making is not to rub this in their face or whatnot. The point he is making is that many, many times Protestants bring up cases of Catholics killing Protestants and try to make it out to prove that Catholics are evil or don’t follow the teachings of Christ or whatnot, and that if they doso we can show them this list to show them that it doesn’t prove anything. It does have some apologetic value. Also, this specific board concerns apologetics, which does entail theologic understanding, but not always. Sometimes its just about how to defend a point.

As a protestant I never seen any value in pointing out the sins of men because we are all sinners forgiven by God.

“But, for the grace of God, go I”

I understand that they use these sins to disprove infalliblity. How does that fact that we are humans who commit sins disprove a grace from God? Lets say God gave us the ability to see what is in a man’s heart when we meet them face to face. Would the fact that we got angery and told some one off disprove that ability?
