That’s because you idealize a Golden Age that never existed.

What was Jim Crow but legislated immorality?
What was the Opium War (that Great Britain fought and won in order to sell narcotics in China) but government sponsored immorality?
What was the United States policy of displacement and/or genocide towards the American Indians but legislated immorality?

You long for something that never truly existed Ed.
