Could anyone provide me any information on “the sinner’s prayer”?

It is my understanding that it was part of Billy Graham’s theology.

Also, someone told me that it was formulated during the crusades. Other data I have seen says it dates only about 500 years ago.
 
Is it “Lord Jesus Christ, Son of the Living God, have mercy on me a sinner?” I thought that prayer was Greek in origin. I think Billy Graham uses another.

What you quoted is called “The Jesus Prayer”. The sinners prayer is used by baptists and others. (not sure of history and origin of sinner’s prayer).
 
Essentially it’s an act of contrition with a few things added.

This is the same basic information I came across. Thank you. However, does anyone know if it is related to the crusades somehow? I am tending to doubt it. I did a google search with “sinner’s prayer” and “crusades” and that is when I came across the reference that the prayer dates back about 500 years…not longer than that (older of course would indicate that it originated from the crusades more plausible).
 
The sinner’s prayer is simply the name that most Protestants use for an act of contrition. It also includes a brief statement of faith, not a full creed, but similar to that.
I had never heard of any connection to the Crusades, however, I suppose that it is possible that something like it might have been used as a formula for Muslims to recite if they were wanting to prove that they were wanting to be Christian. I’m thinking that there could have been a formula for that. It could have been similar to this, but I don’t think it would have been exactly the same.
