Do you think the Sorpranos is an inapropriate show for a Christian to watch?

Yes! I have seen the 1st season. It is very difficult to watch. I do not mind violence or swearing and such in movies or shows. But, this one goes over the top, especially in the swearing department. Then there is the nudity. That being said it depends what you can handle personally. But why put this junk in front of your eyes. The acting is good as well as the writing, acting and production values. But it gets to be too much in the violence, swearing and nudity. Just my thoughts.

Yeah, probably.
I don’t have HBO to see it but DIL bought the 1st 2 seasons on DVD and DH and I watched them. Guilty pleasure.
Very violent but excellent writing and acting.
Unlike the Godfather movies, you find yourself being grateful you are not part of that family, associated with it or even know anyone like them.
The Sopranos and friends are not glamorized.

That’s a good question. My hubby and I have been Sopranos fans since the beginning. I find myself crossing shows of my list that are good but, because of the sex, inappropriate, yet I keep watching Sopranos. I guess because to me it tells a real story. So much of what’s on TV and is in the movies seems to be for shock value; it adds nothing to the plot. You’ll just have this random violence or sex, and it will add little or nothing, or actually detract from the story. Sopranos isn’t like that. It’s real life as far as the life of the mofia goes. I doubt we’ll stop watching.
It’s interesting to think about, but we’ve stopped watching Nip/Tuck, Rescue Me, and a few others because of the sex and lack of morals. I wonder why I never thought to extend that to Sporanos. Maybe because we started watching it before we reverted to the church?

I’ve watched every episode of The Sopranos up until last season, and I won’t be watching it any further.
Too much violence, too much sex/nudity and really unhealthy depiction of morals in general.
That said, it’s the best TV series I’ve ever seen.

I think it depends on what the individual can handle. I know some people who think Everybody Loves Raymond is a bad example of a family. I shrug and disagree. I think its a great show that is positive. I see a close family in Raymond and someone else sees major disfunction. The Sopranos show is raw and real and I have been a fan since day one. I own the series on dvd as well. Looking forward to the new episodes!
