when are you supposed to say the stations of the cross?im not sure.you know like the sorrowful mysteries ans everthing and how do you say the rosary with the stations of th cross?🙂

You say the Stations of the Cross during Lent (the six weeks leading up to Easter). Also, you don’t say the rosary at the Stations of the Cross. The prayers and reflections of the Stations of the Cross are not the same as the rosary. If you want to learn more about the Staions of the Cross, look for a little booklet about the Stations. I’m sure your parish would have one. If not, then your priest or a parishioner would.

If you google “stations of the cross” you’ll find the 14 prayers that go with each station.

The sorrowful mysteries of the Rosary follow the Stations, sort of. They are:

The Agony in the Garden
The Scourging at the Pillar
The Crowning with Thorns
The Carrying of the Cross
The Crucifixion

We pray them on Tuesdays and Fridays.

I know Lent is the time you are to do this but there is no prohibition to doing it at other times, the thing is it fits best at Lent that is all.

I mean, you are pondering the agony of our Risen Lord. It would be a strange thing to focus on say during Christmas, but - not wrong, just not where we are in the calander at the time.

IMHO it would do us all good to remember the stations of the cross all the time!🙂

Especially now when there are major religions out there calling it a lie.

Doing the stations is a means for a plenary indulgence so do it often. I usually modify the Divine Mercy prayers for each of the stations.

Yes, you can receive an indulgence, but only under the normal circumstances for the indulgence to be granted:
(1) to be freed from all attachment to sin,
(2) to have received the Sacrament of Penance (within 8 days of the Stations) and the Sacrament of the Eucharist,
(3) and to pray for the intentions of the Pope.

Remember the beauty of a plenary indulgence: it removes ALL temporal punishment due to sin whose guilt has already been forgiven. It can be applied to yourself or to the souls in purgatory. What an awesome treasure that God gives us!

There is always a partial indulgence even if you don’t meet all the requirements for a plenary indulgence.

You can pray the Stations of the Cross at any time, in any liturgical season. Traditionally, most parishes hold Stations of the Cross on Friday nights during Lent.

I try to walk the stations on Fridays after daily Mass. I had gotten lazy for a while, but started back 2 weeks ago, what an awesome experience!

As to devotion to our Lord, I don’t think we can concentrate on his Passion enough. I love you Jesus, have mercy on me.

You can pray the Stations of the Cross any old time the Spirit moves you to do it. I know people who pray them daily.

I often include them in my meditations on the Sorrowful mysteries of the rosary, especially decade IV, the Carrying of the Cross.
