I got married fifteen years ago to a lovely Japanese girl while stationed in Japan. At the time of my marriage, I was a “back sliding” Southern Baptist type. My brand new wife was not/is not a Christian. Several years after our marriage I converted to the Church. So I’m curious as to how the Church views my marriage to a non-Christian, and if my marriage can be elevated to the sacramental level?

I’m suprised there have been no other replies. Maybe the wrong forum, you could repost it on Ask an Apologist, this type of thing is usually right up their alley. Otherwise, asking your parish priest would be a good place to start.

Peace

From what I understand, yes you can, I know Catholics who have married agnostics/atheists.

Talk to your priest he will be able to advise you what you need to do. He will need to know ‘how’ you were married, if either of you were baptized etc etc.
