The following from the book of Wisdom really made me think of this thread again and want to post it:

CH 2 12: “Let us beset the just one, because he is obnoxious to us; he sets himself against our doings, Reproaches our transgressions of the law and charges us with violations of our training. He professes to have knowledge of God and styles himself a child of the Lord.”

then later on
“Because his life is not like other men’s and different are his ways. He judges us debased; he holds aloof from our paths as from things impure”

and 2:19
With revilement and torture let us put him to the test that we may have proof of his gentleness and try his patience. Let us condemn him to a shameful death; for according to his own words, God will take care of him"

Those are interesting quotes but I have a hard time believing they represent history. There’s little in Jewish scripture or tradition that would embrace a view of testing patience by torture.
Everything that these quotes accuse Jesus of doing, all the other prophets did (more or less). And yet there was no urge to torture and kill them on the part of the Jewish people.
