Were the ten commandments literally engraved (or in some other way actually written) on stone?

How is it possible for an angel in heaven, e.g. Lucifer, to rebel against God and earn eternal damnation? Aren’t all inhabitants of heaven free of sin and the propensity to sin? To enter heaven one has first to be purified by the so-called fires of purgatory to atone for one’s misdeeds on earth,no? So when we go to heaven aren’t we at peace with ourselves? How can we be still tempted to fall into sin? Isn’t it bad enough to be tempted to sin in this life?

Granted that our human nature is imperfect: we are all subject to greed, lust, anger, selfishness, etc but why must we therefore conclude that this is the result of so-called original sin? Maybe there was no original sin at all in the first place. We are just humans in AD2005 taking part in a process of evolution from lower and less complex living creatures that are evolving towards the achievement of goodness in a world free of the evils of wars, sin, disease and death! Why must we always find a “scapegoat” for our miserbale human condition by blaming it all on our so-called first parents?

Is it binding in faith (dogma) to believe in all the miracles mentioned in the four Gospels?

Why has no one ever been resurrected at Lourdes or ever acquired a missing limb in the so-called miraculous waters there?

Well, you ask lots of questions, but I’ll answer a few.

Humans in heaven are free of sin and the desire to sin. Angels were given a choice to serve God or not, and those who wouldn’t serve were cast out. All who remain are freely desire to serve God.

We sin here on earth because sin looks good to us. Once we start a particular sin, we often fall into the habit of sin. Once the habit is established it is hard to break even if we come to recognize the action as bad and ugly.

After we die, (and possibly before if given the grace) we will see our sins for what they are–ugly marks on our soul. If we knew how ugly sin really was, we would strive much harder not to sin.

Our human nature is imperfect now, but God didn’t design it that way. Just as a genetic mutation can be passed down through the generations, sin passes down. We call the sin that changed our human nature “original sin.” The first humans were tempted to be like God, deciding for themselves what is good and what is evil. (Genesis 3:5) Some still face that temptation today.

You don’t like “blaming” the first human, but you somehow think you are better than them through evolution. You think we can evolve towards goodness, but I see no evidence of that in history. In fact, amebas seem kinder to each other than some humans.

If I understand what you are saying, you seem to be awaiting the birth of Humanity’s future saviors that will follow us on the evolutionary charts in the years to come. We believe we already have a Savior, and that we can change into better people now by following Him.

Okay, did I just spend all that time responding to an April Fool’s day post?

Hello Hatambu,

Angels are spiritual but they can not possess eternal life, if they do possess eternal life, until after God’s first born, Jesus Christ, is eternally begotten of God (PSA 2:4)(ACT 13:32)(HEB 1:5)(ACT 2:33). Jesus assures us that no one can enter the kingdom of God unless they are begotten of God (JOH 3:3). Satan is never begotten of God. Scripture tells us that angels, including fallen angel Satan, are in ‘heaven’ before Christ’s death and ressurection. What ever scripture is referring to as ‘heaven’ before Christ’s ressurection is not God’s eternal kingdom which is born into heaven through the blood of the Lamb. Satan is cast out of ‘heaven’ by the power of the blood of the Lamb (REV 12:7-12). Satan dies in the ‘second death’(REV 20). Saints born into eternal life as a part of God’s eternal kingdom, cannot be harmed by the second death (REV 2:11)(REV 20:6). Fallen angel Satan is never part of God’s eternal kingdom which is born into in heaven through the blood of the Lamb.
