Hi all! My Protestant friend has been hosting Bible studies at her house and invites all of her friends to them. Most of them are Protestants, and the last study we did was by Beth Moore. It was okay, but there were a few times I was uncomfortable because she would teach some things that I knew were untrue. I didn’t say anything about these things though, because my friend stressed to everyone that she didn’t want people to be uncomfortable there and it didn’t matter what “denomination” they belong to. I never felt like it was the right time to speak up about anything since most of the problems were in the daily readings and not in the videos we watched during the group meeting.

Soon we will begin our next study and it is going to be **The Truth Project **by Focus on the Family. I don’t know anything about it or about Focus on the Family and I was wondering if any of you were familiar with it. If so, what is it like? Does it teach anything that goes against Catholic teachings?

Some of the other women invited are not really religious or may be on-the-fence, so while I really want them to believe, I also am concerned about their being taught false information.

Any advice? Comments? Suggestions?

If I may share my view on your post, please accept that I deal with many people who feel that they know the truth and that it comes from man.

God gives us teachers and preachers, and those gifted persons give us information. However, sadly, many people stop at that point and just call it truth - because somebody said so.

The Truth Project comes from those who hold the Apostles Creed as valid and my take issue with the Nicene Creed only because of the statement about the purpose of Baptism.

I would not be overly concerned about anyone being misled. If anyone is, it is because they allow it. God has given us a way to know the truths we need, but we must avail ourselves of it.

The truth will be known, but it takes time to learn. Most are simply parrots who quote what others have said but do not know if and why they should believe it.

I think it is good that, as a Catholic young woman, you are willing to share your time with others. It does serve as a testimony of your heart, and that goes a long way toward bring people together. The world needs that now more than ever.

Thank you for your reply!

I do hope that the women who participate will enjoy it enough that they want to do more Bible studying on their own so that all their information does not only come from this source. Hopefully, it will open their hearts to know that God exists and that He loves them. From there, He can teach them His truths however He sees they’ll learn it best! 🙂
