The ultimate "works" passage, Gen 4:7

If you do well, you can hold up your head; but if not, sin is a demon lurking at the door: his urge is toward you, yet you can be his master." NAB***

It seems to me that this passage is proof that “doing well” and “our mastering of sin” is God’s prerequsite for eternal life as opposed to those who insist that we are “snow cover dung” and “totally depraved and helpless”.

Steve Brown, the Evangelical preacher, is the worst at this I have heard. He sounds like a really nice guy, but his theology is way off base. He also said yesterday that Marriage is a public declatration before the community and that divorce should be a public declaration also. Not a word about “What God has joined together no man can put asunder.”
