When Jesus was accused of having a devil they sinned against the Holy Spirit. Jesus gives the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit gives us the grace that sanctifies. To receive forgiveness we must be humble.,. To be humble we must have humility, humility is a virtue given by the Holy Spirit Humility is the foundation of all virtue. How can we receive forgiveness if we are not humble and admit we have sin and repent, impossible. Our hearts are hardened. When we reject Jesus, we reject the Holy Spirit and The Father They are the givers of the Holy Spirit Jesus breathes the Holy Spirit. 😉

If they say it is unforgivable, then Id assume that is accurate and those who do that simply cannot be forgiven. You can only justify so many sins.
And yet we are taught that we can always ask for forgiveness and receive it.

My priest has often said that the only unfirgivable sin is the one we will not accept forgiveness for…which is itself a blasphemy of sorts since we are in effect rejecting God’s act of forgiveness.

the unforgivable sin is as simple as dying without repenting, if at some point of your life you reject God and his mercy but you repent later, then the sin of rejecting God is forgiven.

thinking that a Sin is not forgiven, it depends on what you mean: if the person thinks that one sin, that he confessed and was sorry to make it, even to avoid Hell, is not forgiven without any good reason, but still tries to follow God and his Commandments. I say that is just scrupulous, they only needs to trust that that sin was forgiven and should continue their lives. on other hand thinking that you are already damned and that being the reason you abandon the fight, and live an unrepenting life, sining because you are damned, that is one of the blasphemies against the Holy Spirit.

Jesus gives grace to the humble and resists the proud. When a person desires to confess his sins and approaches a priest or if he can,t but is contrite of heart and asks God for forgiveness, he is forgiven. But the Catholic church requires if the sin is mortal one either has to go to a priest in order to make sure the person is properly disposed to receive Communion. If the person can’t receive absolution from a priest, he can not receive
Communion, but he is still forgiven.

The greatest signs Jesus gave us to imitate were Love and Humility. He is God-man and humbled Himself even to the death on the cross like a criminal. This act of humility countered the pride of Satan. It redeemed man from Satans’ control. Pride was Satans’ downfall and mans’ too. Humility is a spiritual power. When a person is contrite he is blessed with this spiritual power. This power comes from the Holy Spirit that makes it possibile to be humble. Humility is necessary to be forgiven. Without it the sinner remains proud and unloving towards God. He is not sorry,or contrite. How then can he be forgiven? When The Holy Spirit is rejected the person is not given humility.

Jesus meek and humble of heart, make our hearts like unto thine. God can forgive all sin if we are humble enough to ask for it.

CCC 1864 “Therefore I tell you, every sin and blasphemy will be forgiven men, but the blasphemy against the Spirit will not be forgiven.” There are no limits to the mercy of God, but anyone who deliberately refuses to accept his mercy by repenting, rejects the forgiveness of his sins and the salvation offered by the Holy Spirit. Such hardness of heart can lead to final impenitence and eternal loss.
