One of the things I like about John’s gospel is that he sets the record straight regarding the rumor that he himself was not going to die. He makes clear to believers that Jesus did not say that!
 
The author states there are nine I am statements in John. In my readings of various commentary it’s always stated that there are seven I am statements in John. Before Abraham was, I AM—Jn. 8:58, and I AM He—Jn. 18:5-6 aren’t mentioned.
