Pretty sure the Church will never issue a formal statement on love cuffs, phew, sigh of relief.

The Church leaves a lot of room for the couple to form their own decisions within the wonderful gift of the marital embrace. The position of the Church also encourages a lot of personal examination and digging deep to find one’s motivation for certain sexual feelings. The mystery of sex is a place where we can examine the mystery between Christ and His Church.

With the example of using cuffs… what is it about them that draws your husband to this idea? Do you feel there is a danger in the use of cuffs no longer being about the two of you, but instead becoming an idol in your bedroom? What is it about your intimate relationship that makes him want to introduce something like this? What are his true underlying feelings about women?

Before you agree to do it, and I am not saying you should or you shouldn’t, get to the root of the desire and make sure it is not there as a replacement for a spiritual and physical intimacy your husband fears. Often times a fetish springs up because someone is mentally stuck or fixated on a moment in time or experience or emotion.

Have you guys heard of Chritopher West? Read Theology of the Body if you haven’t already. Life changing stuff!!
