Hello everyone, I am a Catholic teenager trying to discern what my vocation is(marriage, priesthood, religious, etc.) The thing that I struggle the most with is understanding the voice of God. My question is what does the voice of God physically(yes physically) feel like? I know most of you are probably thinking “Kid it doesn’t feel like anything, it’s a voice.” But I’m sure there’s a better answer to my question out there. With that being said, when you experienced the voice of God calling you to your vocation, what did it feel like? Was it a constant feeling in your gut? Did you feel at peace in your mind? Could you hear it anywhere and everywhere - all the time? Or did it simply make you rejoice and feel like jumping up and down? Thank you all so much for your answers!

I think you’ll find his voice to be like Elijah did in 1 Kings 19:11-12. For me it was a quite feeling of peace and reassurance whenever I asked God in prayer what he wanted from me out of my life. I also discerned the manifested physical and mental abilities that God gave me in helping me decide. These graces can be God’s way of pointing us in the right direction.

I once heard Mary’s physical voice a few years ago. Her voice is very warm, loving, gentle and peace. She spoke to one of my ear. ❤️

I also want to know who heard Mary’s voice before. please write here.

There are different types of locutions and so how God speaks to one person may be different than how He speaks to someone else. I recommend that you ask God for a good spiritual director.

Practice not only the Presence of God, but interior and exterior silence, as well. Quiet your thoughts as best you can.

In the lives of the prophets, God often came to them in the midst of their Daily Duty.

When I received the call to a certain monastery in college, I was struck with sheer terror. When I eventually got there a few years later, I knew I had missed an opportunity. They were in the process of suppression (closing).

Another bit of advice is not to go looking for the Voice of God. Just go about Daily Duty. Events will often reveal His Will.
