I saw this movie today and I thought it was beautifully done. It’s largely fiction of course, because little is written in the Gospels about Jesus’ boyhood. But the story had the ring of truth and didn’t go off the rails with wild speculation. I think Catholics would enjoy it.

Dave Armstrong writes a very interesting article

“Young Messiah” Denies Christological Certainties

Saint Pope John Paul II says that it is evident that Jesus knew that He was Divine in His response to Mary at the Temple at the age of 12 years old. See Jesus is God
A little off-topic, but I wonder if anyone here has seen the 1999 TV movie Mary, Mother of Jesus starring Christian Bale as Jesus and Darth Vader’s mom from Phantom Menace as St Mary? It was surprisingly okay in my opinion (I appreciated how much it built up the relationship between mother and son), but it struck me as odd that Bale’s Jesus didn’t quite understand what made him “different” for a decent part of the movie. I suppose this happens in some portrayals to make Christ more relatable, or at best to emphasize that He has a fully human nature that didn’t “know everything” in the way His divine nature did. I suppose if even Batman can’t portray Jesus perfectly, no one can!
