Just thought we could have a topic on these three things because well they’re a lot of fun. What is your favorite memories? What is your favorite Amusement/Theme Parks? How did you overcome your fear of going on the really big intense scary rides? Any particular Favorite rides or games? Personally I love queuing and having the queasy feeling in your stomach, with your mind thinking “Am I gonna die on this”.

I often just like walking around and looking at the rides in motion. I find it fascinating the amount of ride ideas being feel inspired to come up with. Not a big fan of the constant noise but I get use to it.

I really going on the Twister ride and Waltzers. Only been on one or two roller coasters. Also it’s a great time for fellowship among catholic families/groups.

I saw that they’re topics in this section on movies, TV shows and video games. I think it will make for a fun lighthearted discussion.

When I was growing up in Boston, we used to go a few times every summer to Paragon Park in Hull, MA. A pity that closed down 😦 . I never got the chance to ride on the Giant Coaster because I was too young/too scared to go on it. My favorite ride there was called the Trabant (a spinning, gyroscopy type of ride). I also then liked to go across the street to Nantasket Beach, where the tides go from extremely low to right up to the sea wall. Great fun avoiding the waves or catching them with a boogie board. 😃

Disneyland in Anaheim isn’t all it’s cracked up to be, and I haven’t been there since I was in my 20s, so I’ve never been to California Adventures to know what it’s like. (It seems like it has a lot of super intense rides that I couldn’t go on 😬😵😱). I really only liked a couple of the rides a lot at Disney: Big Thunder Mountain rollercoaster and the Pirates of the Caribbean. I went on those during the parades, which I was never interested in (I’ve always detested costumed characters 🤢). The lines for the rides coupled with the huge crowds turn me off. That, and the crazy fee to get in. :-1:t3:

This is a great thread, by the way. 😃

The best part of fun fairs is the food. Bring on the funnel cake and fried everything.
Put it on a stick and you’re good to go.

A long since gone amusement park in my hometown had the most amazing french fries in the world. There were also two wooden roller coasters that we would ride over and over again. I still think nothing beats a wooden coaster.

Ok, so from a British perspective it’s all about Alton Towers. I detest spin rides, I’m good with drop/launch towers but I LOVE coasters and water rides. So I’m going to say my favourite ride of all time is the one and only Nemesis, although I’m thinking my little ones first “proper” coaster will probably be Vampire at Chessington in a few years time.

I’m not sure French fries and roller coaster are a good mix 🤢

My favorite has always been Silver Dollar City. The rides weren’t so terrifying, although they do have a few coasters, but I loved seeing all the craftsmen, the food is so good, the shows, and my favorite part has always been Marvel Cave! It involves a five hour drive from my house but it’s much cooler than Six flags has every been!

I have been to the Wisconsin State Fair and many other festivals. I love the giant pretzels and all of the junk food. Whenever my family and I go to the State Fair, we always get amazing ice cream. I love rollercoasters and being scared. I have gone on a few upside down ones. I love the Pharaoh’s Fury and the Tilt-a-whirl. I have been to Harry Potter World in Florida and have been on the Revenge of the Mummy and the Hollywood rip ride rockit. Although, I did not like the latter. I have also been on some cool 3D roller coasters. I have always been a really brave and adventurous person.

This is for the close to 70 Jersey Philly crowd:
Who remembers the song on TV?

Palisades has the rides, Palisades has the fun
Come on over
Shows and dancing are free, so’s the parking, so gee
Come on over,
Palisades from coast to coast
Where a dime buys the most
Palisades amusement park
swings all day and after dark
Ride the coaster,
get cool
in the waves
in the pool
you’ll have fun
so come on over
Doo-doo-doo-doo DOO!

I visited Silver Dollar City in 2012 while vacationing in Branson. Got a 2 day pass because my favorite bluegrass singer, Rhonda Vincent, was performing both days. Cool park but the hills were a bit much in my wheelchair. Also I got sick the first day and had to go to an urgent care. Felt much better the next day.

Second post …

When I was attending college at Wright State in Dayton, Ohio, I went to Kings Island several times with my college buddies. Often it was in conjunction with Christian music artists performing at the park. I can’t do most rollercoasters because of my disability, but we did find some smaller rides to go on that I could handle.

Much the same when I moved to West Virginia, within an hour and a half of Pittsburgh, I visited Kennywood many times in the mid to late '90s, and I think early 2000s. I worked with the park on a list of rides that I was approved to go on. One of my favorites was the Kangaroo. I also liked the swing ride in the “Lost Pittsburg” area.

I’d have to say my theme park days are mostly behind me, in large part because of the heart valve surgery I had in 2011. Don’t want to chance the rides with that issue. I did visit Dollywood over Christmas break in 2017, but mainly for the live shows.

My family loves Disney World. The attention to detail, cleanliness and customer service cannot be beat in my experience. We go for a week at a time and still cannot come close to seeing everything.

I should add to this, I went to Universal Studios Orlando last year, and went on ONE ride. As with Dollywood, I concentrated mainly on the shows.

Silver Dollar City has always been a favorite of my family. We’ve been there many times over the years and always enjoy it. Very friendly people and great rides and attractions. My grown children still love to go there.

Cedar Point in Sandusky Ohio. Tons of rides at all levels. So much to see and do it will wear you out. Food is expensive but it’s worth it.

Yeah, my brother uses a chair too. Silver Dollar City is one of only three times I’ve seen him need others to push him. It’s the Ozarks though, so what can you do?. Since then, they’ve installed a ramp on the steepest hill. Darn thing has like five hairpins in it and it takes forever to get up it, but it is sure easier than that hill!
