Fictional character promised heaven- theology help

A fictional character has a dream where Jesus on the cross points to a portrait of the character that says “[character’s name], 21st Century Saint”. So he takes this as assurance of salvation via private revelation (which the Council Of Trent approves). But the character is tormented by demons at night from his past life of occult activity and is neck deep in sin so he thinks Jesus may have only been calling him to be a saint, and if he doesn’t perform acts of heroic virtue and leave his ways, the promise will be revoked, as it was to Eli when he didn’t discipline his sons, or to Ninevah which wasn’t destroyed as God said it would be.

Should the character be concerned for his salvation? Surely Jesus wouldn’t “tease” him with this promise, right? It must be a surefire guarantee?

The Fatima visionaries were promised heaven, (Francesco was dependent on praying many rosaries) there was no way they could have ended up in hell, right?

Is Jesus’ promise to the character a promise that somehow the character will leave sin and perform heroic virtue? Or that he could?

Ok, I see…

If the character asked God, “what good will come of these demonic attacks?” And God said “Heaven.” Would you say the same thing?

God would never give so clear a response. I would suggest reading the Book of Job if you want to see how God might interact with someone in relation to suffering.

God calls everyone to holiness, and God permits everyone to get bothered by demons at times.

So this character just had a vision of being called to normal Christian life.

That said, there have been saints who got bothered a lot by demons, and you might look them up.for ideas.
