There is some kind of Catholic Torah/Sharia?

I know that such as Christ has teached trough his life there is not salvation trough an human resource.

But I feel I am a dark person without a light to follow. Just knowing that we must suffer Passion can leads us to dark sides if we are pathological people.

Is Canon law some kind of a Catholic Torah/Sharia? (Again, not as a way to life after death, but as a way of life)

I don’t know enough about the Torah or Sharia law to be able to draw any comparison, but I can tell you that the Catechism of the Catholic Church is a good resource to draw upon if you feel the need to understand what the Church teaches and want to see it in a formalised document.

As far as Canon Law is concerned, that is simply the set of rules and regulations by which the Church governs itself. It determines how a priest may be disciplined or removed from the clerical state, etc. It’s not a rulebook in any shape or form for how a lay person should live their life.

Canon Law is not some kind of Torah. The Torah is the first five books of the Old Testament. Sharia is probably closer to Canon Law, for it deals with the moral codes of Islam.

Just a suggestion. Perhaps a deeper reading of the Gospels would help, and perhaps the Catena Aurea could be your guide? The Catena Aurea is St Thomas Aquinas’ collection of the Holy Fathers on the Gospels.

Hey, just a quick thing. You’re probably thinking of Talmud and not Torah. Torah is the Old testament. Talmud is the commentary.

I am sure your (name removed by moderator)uts will be really helpful. I thank so much those linkings. Holy Fathers have an special aurea on me insomuch these times I am searching for a social group membership.

Gospels will do help. But I have a problem with them… an obvious problem. I feel that by Them I am called to be torn. Reading John I should think that I must hate Jews… but it isn’t like that… because Jews are the Temple’s Aristocracy… but how know that? Only having a Christian life where that is shown… and how to have a Christian life? It has sense because Christianity aims to be Universal. But I was looking for some kind of corpus of lineaments trough we could know where to move, how to move… such as Jews know whereby transit thanks Torah/Law/Penthateuc.

I am looking for a containment on Catholicism… a Law system… a Culture. But Christianity is a religion not of containment, but of tear; not of Law, but of Grace; not of a Pretty Citadel, but of Ravines such Dark as Death… and I can accept that if I must.

**You shall love the Lord, your God, with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind. This is the greatest and the first commandment.

The second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as yourself. The whole law and the prophets depend on these two commandments.**

I wouldn’t use the word “merely”. We are bound by Canon Law which are the laws of the Church.
