Lately, it’s been one “reality” show after another. C’mon, how “real” can it be when there’s an entire production crew watching the people involved? Thank heaven for PBS (when they’re not having pledge drives.)

I kinda disagree.
You must be speaking of the old network TV channels to the exclusion of cable and satelite, where there are wide quality choices. In that case I may agree, because with the exception of American Idol I almost never watch network TV except for my local news.

Also, not all reality shows are created equally. There are the contrived type that focus on humanity at its worst… (garbage). And there is REAL reality of the documentary kind which are very interesting and informative. Sports is great, news is great, history is great, and the creative and scientific selections are broad. There are a lot of channels and shows designed for specific interests too. My husband and I enjoy the Horse Channel, Speed Channel, Hunting Channel, and I like the Style channel too.
And then there is EWTN! 👍

Aurelia, I agree with you completely. A lot of my friends like all those fix up shows like While You Were Out and Trading Spaces. They’re on way more times than I want to see them. I did like Dancing with the Stars and Skating with Celebrities. I was impressed by how much they all learned and how fast they did it. I watch the Law and Order Shows on USA and TNT. We used to get the Hallmark Channel, and there were some good shows there like Matlock and Diagnosis Murder, and those new mystery shows with Lea Thompson and John Laroquette, but that got moved, along with SoapNet, to the digital channels and I don’t get those. There’s very little “must see” TV anymore.

I’ll watch a disaster movie anytime. Earthquakes, volcanos, giant ants invading the town…those are my kind of movies.

The cable channels are full of religious programming, sports and infomercials. I’m really tired of the Magic Bullet. Deb

I agree and disagree…network TV has gone way downhill. I can’t believe the things they can say and do in primetime. But even still, there are a few quality shows. Has anyone seen Miracle Workers? That’s a really great show. By the creators of Extreme Makeover Home Edition. As for satalite, you can catch Little House on the Prairie four times a day 🙂 There are also a few shows I really love, like Monk, which is one of my favorites.

I’ve discovered a button on the TV. that works when nothing good is on.It goes off and there are plenty of other things to due.I have Chores to due and books to read, hobbies, and exercise.the good part of life happens when the TV is OFF. 👋

With age I think comes selectivity. I enjoy “House”…“24”…“Bones” and my one indulgence…“Survivor”. And when I am lucky…EWTN

“24”! “24”! “24”! Better than most movies!

I also admit to being a “Project Runway” junkie. I’m a sucker for pretty clothes and the creative process is fun to watch.

Otherwise, I agree. There’s not enough decent programming on to justify the monthly cable bill, IMO. But, DH must have his Sci-Fi channel.
