I BRIEFLY visited this website. They are nuts! Have a look at their “vision” of “church” statements. They talk about sensuality in the liturgy among other things. The whole site is nothing but thinly disguised male hating, panthesistic, black magic. If ever anything reflects the philosophies of hell it is this.

This “historian” Dorothy Irvin thinks she’s found prove of women being in the priesthood and bishopric in the early church.

Will these heretic radicals never learn?
The Chapel of St Zeno on the right side of the church, built on a cruciform plan, has 9th century mosaics, depicting the Blessed Virgin and saints on the inner arch and Christ and the Apostles on the outer. The mosaics are in the Byzantine style, which is rare in Rome. The chapel was built by Pope St Paschal I in honour of his mother Theodora, and as her burial place, to enshrine the relics of St Zeno and St Valentine, which were brought here from the catacombs. The plan of the chapel imitates a cubiculum (small room) in the catacombs. The lintel and columns at the entrance are ancient spolia.

There is a mosaic portrait of Paschal’s mother, inscribed Theodora Episcopa, “Mrs Bishop Theodora”, with Sts Praxedes and Pudentiana and the Blessed Virgin Mary. Theodora is depicted with a square halo, indicating that the image was made when she was alive. Above them is a lunette with a mosaic of the Lamb of God with four deer drinking from streams.

Theodora was a beloved mother of a local bishop. You need to know a bit about Byzantine Christian culture to realize that the title is simply a sign of reverence to a good mother. During the 9th century, every ordination canon in force and every ordinance, presumes that only persons of the male sex will be ordained.
