He may have said those words, but he did not mean what a Christian would mean when he says that. The Mormon prophets and apostles have always taught, and most Mormons accept, that the Heavenly Father (who has a human body) came to earth and had sexual intercourse with Mary to sire Jesus in the flesh. That’s what they mean when they say “only begotten son”.
