Hey people. My name is Ryan and I am a sophmore in high school. I’m Protestant. I have a few things I just wanted to get out of my system here…ummm frist off, for the other “Protestants” on this site who are getting on here to tear down Catholics…I’m ashamed of you and you give the other Protestants who don’t feel that way about Catholics at all a bad name and a bad image in their eyes. There are a few Catholics on here who are tearing down Protestants too and maybe y’all have good reason to if your basing your view of what all Protestants believe off of what the “in your face” Protestants are saying on here…but however, not all Protestants are the “in your face” kind so don’t judge all of us based on a few you have encountered. The harsh words from both sides are not necessary. Weather you are Protestant or Catholic…those who aren’t Christian are watching our actions and if they don’t see love in our actions…then they don’t see an accurate representation of Christ. Sometimes maybe the only thing holding someone who isn’t Christian back from becoming a Christian is our actions. Just consider that next time you think about posting a harsh word against one side or the other. Thanks. My little schpeel is done now.

In Him,
Ryan

Hello Ryan:wave: I used to be protestant and I am Catholic, and it is not a sin to defend your faith in fact St.Paul says we should do just that.We have regular non-Catholics on the board that are near and dear to us here.We KNOW that all aren’t like that. The ones who have chosen to behave like that have chosen the day the Pope died:hmmm: Now, do you suppose they might have wanted to get us upset in our emotional state?God Bless

I’m not saying that defending your faith is a sin…I’m talking to the people who are doggin’ each other and who have come to the conclusion that all Protestants or Catholics are a certain way based on the few extremes they have encountered here on the board or in daily life. That’s all. Nice to meet you.🙂

Hello Ryan, great post. I agree 100%, there are some Protestants and some Catholics who do not properly represent the teachings of Christ. We need to all show the non-Christians, through example the love of Christ.

Well Ryan, you are certainly a refreshing difference from a great many of the folks that come in here and I offer you a hearty welcome!

I left the Catholic Church when I was about your age and was gone for over 34 years. I came back after I got into a serious discussion with a guy who alleged some stuff I knew was wrong. My research led me home as I discovered that the Catholic Church really was teaching the truth.

Anyway…Welcome my friend and I hope we can share and become friends. Enjoy your time here with us.
Pax vobiscum, 😃

That’s exactly right. I was an atheist until my early twenties and this was one of the main reasons I rejected the faith. I saw so many squabbling Christians that were talking the talk but not walking the walk. One of the things that helped break down this barrier was my grandfather who served as a quiet example of the Christian life. He talked the talk very quietly but walked the walk very loudly. And that made more of an impact on me than anything anyone said with words. So I cringe when I see Christains bickering with one another, especially in public, because I know how that looks from the other side.

It’s just crazy how even within Protestant and Catholic groups that there is so much tearing down and fighting. We are brothers and sisters in Christ. People are watching us closely because we claim be setting an example. What kind of example are we if some of the things we say to each other are just as hurtful as some of the things non-Christians say to each other? Why would they embrace Christianity if we look no different to them? Some of them surely love our Christ and His teaching but when they see us fighting they say “I love your Christ but I hate you Christians and that is why I do not want to be associated with you.” It’s rather sad.😦

Well the point of this site is for us Catholics to learn what we believe and how to answer questions. I hate to bicker but I love my faith and I love to share it. However, I will never stand idly by and allow someone to speak untruths about my faith or badmouth it.

One aspect of Catholicism that I especially love is that we make no effort to get you to convert from whatever Christian religion you are in. We work to get our own families into the faith and the unchurched and unbelievers. Going after members of other churches is stupid and is like preaching to the choir and stealing sheep. I mean as many hurting lost souls as there are out there in the world and people would rather waste time pestering us to believe like they do.

If either of you ever attend a Catholic Mass I can almost gaurentee you that you won’t hear the priest mention anyone else’s religion in his homily… The message is the Gospel. Period.
Welcome friends. Pax vobiscum,

I agree. And I might add that isn’t why I’m here… I believe there are many different forms of worship, and people feel more comfortable in different settings, and feel like they can worship more effectively different ways. And I think that is pleasing to God.

Amen to that, brother! God bless. 🙂

(This is the first time I’ve split a quote like that… hope it comes out okay…)

Well said Ryan. You are wise beyond your years! Sometimes in the heat of debate, uncharitable things are stated on both sides. As Christains, we must make our best effort to correct gently.

Welcome and God Bless you! Christ is risen!
