It´s marvellous this thread. I don´t know what to do
Just tell if you are thinking of the Priesthood or Religious life and why. Talking about it can help you discern what you want to do. I know for me, it has helped me alot.

I have always wondered what the life of a monk is like but I have never really thought about becoming one. I am sure it is a very fulfilling life.

Its very important to mention to young boys and girls, wherever you meet them, to consider a vocation to the priesthood or religious life, cause you never know where you may be planting the seeds of a vocation.

Its also important to dispell the thought that one have to be very holy to be a priest, for it is not our worthyness that matters but the fact that God calls who He wills and sanctifies them;or that the years of training are very difficult and long, as I have spoken to many newly ordained priests and they’ve said that the years of study and training pass so fast that one hardly realises it.

Its also very important to stop condemming priests, especially in front of the young,as it scandalises them and turns them away from even considering a vocation.

One must take pains to show from living examples of priests, that living chastely is not very difficult with Gods grace and that there are many priests all over the world who highly treasure their priesthood and are totally fulfilled and balanced human beings.

I think it is important to realize that when someone is discerning their vocation, they must realize that it is God who chooses us for the religious life. We don’t choose to become preists or monks or nuns, he calls us. We were all born for a reason, and some of us were born to serve our Lord. This is important to remember when a person dwells on their short commings. A preist has always been considered “Another Christ”, and we would have a very difficult time finding men who were as pure as Christ. I know that that was a very big part of my discernment, and I almost didn’t go though with my discernent because of it. But I realized that I was not perfect, and I never will be. I can only ask for God’s grace to make me worthy in His eyes to serve Him. Since then my discenrment has been simple. I am heading off to the Seminary this Fall and I am very excited! The best advice I can offer someone who is discerning a call to the religious life is PRAY! And when you pray, seek the intercession of the Ever Virgin Mary the Mother of God, and pray in the name of Jesus, the Lord. Amen!

So for a monk, where does he live,in his house, because i have seen monks living in chapels or churches?..being a monk really appeals to me?

A monk generally lives in a monastery in community with other monks and preists from his order. There are instances where monks would live outside of a monastery, like if his order served at a local parish that was some distance from the monastery.
