God’s peace @(name removed by moderator) It is rather interesting but I would say this forum is not always comfortable with debating.
Justice Scalia wasn’t afraid of arguing, debating etc – But he did say not to attack people – attack ideas. There are certain things here that do get flagged and I don’t mean rudeness, attacking people or immorality, unchaste content, actually I think it is necessary to flag more unchaste discussions. . . .
An example; if I might change your quote " [Some guys] always attack traditional Catholics for being rigid, but so far:

Good priests [Many priests] who wear cassocks are [sometimes] attacked by [some or a few] parishioners.

Good [some] priests who want to say the traditional Latin mass are [questioned tremendously] attacked by parishioners.

Good [Some] priests who give “gloomy” homilies are [given rather strong rebuttals] attacked by parishioners.

[some] People who point out these things are called whiners.

People who hold more traditional beliefs are often [questioned and at times mocked ] shouted down.

People here mass flag and get closed [somethings] anything they don’t agree with.

And [some people say trads ]you say it’s trads that are causing the divide?

No, trads are just tired of sitting back and getting beat over the head by you, and you don’t like that people are speaking up now.
Just some thoughts – but just might get closed out. 🥴

On his combative arguments in the Supreme Court:

“I attack ideas. I don’t attack people. And some very good people have some very bad ideas. And if you can’t separate the two, you gotta get another day job.”- Justice Scalia

On being controversial:

“A man who has made no enemies is probably not a very good man.” – Justice Scalia

Ha!..yes @Divine3 there is a lot to be said for writing in the third person or generalizing statements as you described. It’s kept me out of trouble several times in real life! 😎 🥳 🤐

Nobody attacks you for being a traditional catholic. Stop playing the victim. People get upset when you call their forms of worship inferior, or their prayers inferior, or their piety inferior, or use extremely offensive language like it’s nothing.

It just takes self-awareness of how certain words affect others and you will not get banned.

I agree with what you say. Additionally, this is rather sad and dangerous as debate is necessary. A well run forum will survive and flourish, a well run “echo chamber” will always stagnate and die, just as an echo falls away to eventual silence.

It’s not even a matter of “people get upset”. The Vatican does not regard the OF Mass as “inferior”; it’s the Mass in general use by the Church for decades now. To call OF Mass “inferior” is contradicting Church teaching and propagating misinformation on the forum.

It’s fine to say that you have a personal preference for the EF, but this does not somehow make the OF Mass “objectively inferior”.

Then to complain about some alleged prejudice towards traditionalists when the posts get flagged for contradicting Church teaching and also for violating the forum rules on civility, is playing the victim and missing the point. It’s pretty clear from the responses that some of the flags were likely coming from people who, from their other posts, engage in traditional practices themselves.

This is a very excellent statement. I had to quote it. @IanM Something to ponder for any place where debating happens.
