This is why we study the apologetics of our faith

Gendron again…
Interesting this too under the Catechism:

"we often see a stubborn resistance to believing God’s Word. "

Christ’s words are :

“When the Spirit of truth comes, he will guide you into all the truth;”

and

“And I tell you, you are Peter, and on this rock I will build my church, and the powers of death shall not prevail against it. 19 I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven, and whatever you bind on earth shall be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.””

Mike tacitly trust’s these words when it comes to his belief on the canon of the NT, 27 books, all inspired, no more, no less. Fallible men, Catholic Bishops, made infallible decisions, repeatedly. And the only way this couple happen is if they were guided to ALL truth as Scripture explicitly states.

Yet Mike believes in a great apostasy, the true faith was lost, well before 400 ad.

He is most inconsistent.

And stubbornly resists the Written Word of God… not having trust in ALL of it.

He’s not 'notorious". I doubt that the majority of Catholics have heard of him.

But he is familiar among Catholics who are used to defending their faith.

And yes, he does proselytize a very anti-Catholic message.
True this… I can’t imagine any of my Catholic friends knowing of Mike Gendron.

I’m reading St. Augustine right now, Letter #43 to Glorius. I’m struck by how somethings haven’t changed, from par 1 below:

"And yet even in the case of a heretic, however puffed up with odious conceit, and insane through the obstinacy of his wicked resistance to truth, although we warn others to avoid him, so that he may not deceive the weak and inexperienced, we do not refuse to strive by every means in our power for his correction. "

Oh yes, in the same letter, para 7, in speaking of Purpurius, Bishop of Limata, St. Augustine writes:

“he saw himself united by letters of communion both to the Roman Church, in which the supremacy of an apostolic chair has always flourished”

Mike Gendron can read all of scripture, read all of the Church Fathers, and he won’t find his Church.

Not once.

Gendron again…
Might as well comment here too. I read this on Mary’s Assumption

“The Feast of the Assumption marks the Roman Catholic belief that Mary ascended into Heaven and did not suffer a physical death,”

Wrong.

The Church does not teach whether or not Mary suffered a physical death, only that she was assumed into heaven.

Interesting this:
  • No one in Christian history has ever claimed to have the Body Of Jesus Christ (only the place of his death)
  • Nor has anyone ever claimed the body of His Mother (only the place of her death)
You would think one who made a living talking against Catholicism would actually know what the Church teaches. It’s so easy. It’s on-line for free.

966 "Finally the Immaculate Virgin, preserved free from all stain of original sin, when the course of her earthly life was finished, was taken up body and soul into heavenly glory, and exalted by the Lord as Queen over all things, so that she might be the more fully conformed to her Son, the Lord of lords and conqueror of sin and death."508 The Assumption of the Blessed Virgin is a singular participation in her Son’s Resurrection and an anticipation of the resurrection of other Christians:

👍 Correct and for a guy who supposedly was a Catholic he also mistakenly says she ascended which is also wrong because there is a huge difference between Jesus Ascension by His own divine power and Mary’s Assumption which was by God’s power…not her own. He took her. She did not ascend…

It always helps that if you attack something that you understand what it is you are really opposing.

Yep, and the fact is that I don’t think that we have anything except where Mary lived with John in Ephesus. As you said, we are not taught that she died, but even so…for all these people who believe in a “Rapture” (I don’t know about Gendron on this. I don’t recall any teachings on it in his stuff.) why is it so hard to fathom and accept? Assumptions happened to Moses and Elijah in the OT…why not the Mother of God?

Lots of poor logic and inconsistency of belief…I have an article that expresses my own thinking on the assumption. Reasons Why I Believe in The Blessed Virgin Mary’s Assumption…

Augustine also said “All heretics wish to be styled Catholic, yet if anyone asks them where is the Catholic place of worship none would venture to point out his own.”
