It really isn’t funny to me. The article is a great illustration of some of the techniques used to pull people out of the Catholic Church, We need to be aware of these techniques, be prepared to refute them and not be afraid to go toe to toe with anyone who tries to teach this stuff to our family and friends.
Mr. McMahon uses the technique of describing similar attributes to infer similar value:
Islam is the fastest growing religion in the world today; Catholicism is the largest religious body among those professing to be Christian
Catholic and Islamic prayers have many similarities.
Another technique, which every Catholic needs to be aware of, is the assumption that the Bible, and not the Church, is the sole authority on religious truth and matters of faith and morals, and that that everything Christian must be explicit in scripture. It amazes me secular society has accepted this as a given, and how even many Catholics don’t know any better
"However, the Bible has no such yardstick. Rather, Jesus said, INSERT BIBLE VERSE HERE."
Another technique used several times by Mr. McMahon is stating that the Church teaches something which it does not or stating that Catholics believe something which they do not believe, as in worship of Mary below.
Most people are aware of the veneration and even worship of Mary found among Roman Catholics
Sadly, Catholicism also has a false Christ. It teaches that His death on the cross was not sufficient for our salvation.
This article is worth studying at length. We would all do well to learn how to counter such techniques.
