I found this article was absolutely hillarious. I showed it to a friend of mine who’s studying for a Ph.D. in religious studies and she laughed too.

His facts are right, but they’re taken so horribly out of context that his arguments lose all validity. He fails logic 101 for sure 👍

:hmmm:Very weak indeed. It’s Ridiculous! 3 x bad, bad, bad. essay 😉

:rotfl::rotfl:

this was funny. really. i wonder why he never mention that God also promised Ismael that he would be a father to many nations.

Islam is the greatest deception. Allah is the greatest deceiver of all time.
But they (the Jews) were deceptive, and Allah was deceptive, for Allah is the best of deceivers (Wamakaroo wamakara Allahu waAllahu khayru al-makireena)! S. 3:54; cf. 8:30
Who is the best deceiver according to the bible? It’s Satan right? But the Quran says Allah is the best deceiver, that makes Allah Satan. Now, how can we believe the Quran since it is the Word of Allah who is a deceiver?

facepalm

This person utterly misunderstand the rosary…and penance…and our love for Mary…and prayer beads…and pretty much everything. This is depressing to read.

It really isn’t funny to me. The article is a great illustration of some of the techniques used to pull people out of the Catholic Church, We need to be aware of these techniques, be prepared to refute them and not be afraid to go toe to toe with anyone who tries to teach this stuff to our family and friends.

Mr. McMahon uses the technique of describing similar attributes to infer similar value:

Islam is the fastest growing religion in the world today; Catholicism is the largest religious body among those professing to be Christian

Catholic and Islamic prayers have many similarities.

Another technique, which every Catholic needs to be aware of, is the assumption that the Bible, and not the Church, is the sole authority on religious truth and matters of faith and morals, and that that everything Christian must be explicit in scripture. It amazes me secular society has accepted this as a given, and how even many Catholics don’t know any better

"However, the Bible has no such yardstick. Rather, Jesus said, INSERT BIBLE VERSE HERE."

Another technique used several times by Mr. McMahon is stating that the Church teaches something which it does not or stating that Catholics believe something which they do not believe, as in worship of Mary below.

Most people are aware of the veneration and even worship of Mary found among Roman Catholics

Sadly, Catholicism also has a false Christ. It teaches that His death on the cross was not sufficient for our salvation.

This article is worth studying at length. We would all do well to learn how to counter such techniques.

Tim,

I admire your intentions but are you able to refute countless anti Catholic teachings? they are all around us. instead the pope tells us to call them as brothers and sisters. Let’s accept that we are in the Church that is being crucified with Christ.

Unfortunately many uninformed fundamentalists accept this nonsense without critical examination for themselves. Their bible study leaders and pastors teach it as factual.

What context do you believe his “right facts” are taken out of?
For one example his history about the idols is correct, but lacking the religious context that it goes with. Muhammed was told to do this because that was the lone representation of the actual God. All others were revealed to him to be false (or so Islam claims.)
