I’ve had this theory that’s been rolling around in my head for some time, and I think it’s solidified enough now that I can ask for opinions 🙂

It’s about receiving the Eucharist. The thought is that it’s not us that receive the Eucharist, but, it is us that are received into the Eucharist. The Greater enters the lesser in order to bring the lesser up toward (not to) the Greater’s level.

It sort of fits with the idea that we become one with the body of Christ through Holy Communion, i.e. we are all being brought up together towards God through Jesus.

If this is true, it changes the way I think about the Eucharist. I held the thought from my childhood that when I receive Christ in the Eucharist, the first time I commit a sin, I chase Jesus away and I have to go to confession and receive Him again. But, what I see happening now is that when I sin, I “break communion” with the Lord, and with the body of Christ, and communion is restord through repentance (through the sacrament of Reconciliation) and then being received back into the body of Christ through the Body and Blood of Christ in the Eucharist. You can sort of make a parallel with Paul’s admonishing us to be filled with the Holy Spirit.

I admit this idea has about 10 minutes to go at 200 degrees C, but I’m wondering if I’m on the right track here?
