With everything going on lately, it makes me think about the Three Days of Darkness i read about years ago. I’m curious, what’s your take on this? Is this a legit prophecy? Recognized by Rome? Holy water, beeswax candles will protect you? Thanks for your (name removed by moderator)ut. Stay safe!

Private revelation so it’s definitely one of those “believe it if you want, but the Church doesn’t directly promote it” ordeals.

I don’t necessarily buy it.

Buuuuut–I will admit, it did enter my mind the other day. I suppose if it WERE to happen, it would be under conditions like this. Because I always thought, “What if the faithful were, say, on their way to mass when it hits? That wouldn’t be fair.” But we can’t exactly go to mass these days, at least not around here. And unless your job, etc, requires it, the most responsible thing to do right now is to stay in your home to protect others 🤔

Anyways, I think it’s nothing to worry about overall. Just always strive to have a relationship with God and be in a state of grace. We never know what breath will be our last, whether it be due to an accident or illness or a natural cause or the end times. We’ll all face God eventually!

As ConfirmedAgnes said, the prophecy is from the private revelations to a beati (Bl. Anna Maria Taigi). Although the private revelations are approved due to the beatification of the seer, Catholics are not required to believe private revelations. Also, the actual revelation to Bl. Anna Maria is very short and does not contain all the stuff that others added to it later; the additions (by people such as Marie-Julie Jahenny) are not approved.

In any event, we don’t rely on holy water or beeswax candles or anything like that to “protect” us. God protects us if we need protecting. Holy water is a sacramental which is used in the manner that we use sacramentals, to help us pray and be close to God, not as a protective device. Blessed candles, beeswax or not, likewise are just a form of prayer.
