It was, indeed, disturbing…a CNN movie aired just a week ago on the story.

Yes. I saw it on CNN. Without giving up much of the plot, the fact that they were separated and the adoptive parents never knew is terrible.

The reason why they were separated is really shameful.

I haven’t watched the film, but we all knew that adoption agencies and medical researchers did a lot of shady things in the past that would be considered unethical today, so it kind of falls in the “nothing new to see here” category for me.

They were born in 1960 and the agency and “researchers” were involved in the study until 1980.

1980 is less than 40 years ago.

40 years is most of my life and longer than many, if not most, people I know have been on the earth. Also, as you note, the men were born in 1960 and presumably adopted at that time, so this plan was not invented in 1980.

If you think this is still recent enough for interest or concern, that’s your prerogative. To me, it’s so long ago and happened in a world very different from our own, legally, socially and every other way.

I mean that babies born in 1980 were separated as part of an experiment.

I wanted to see this! I saw an interview with two of the brothers not long ago. I am fascinated by stories about adoption, discovery of previously unknown family members, and family secrets in general. 🙂 This one, I’ve heard, is sad, but still looks very interesting.

No, but I saw this:(Please Note: This uploaded content is no longer available.)

As early as 1977 we saw how confusing it is when twins are separated…
