I recently ran across the New Living Translation Catholic Edition that contains the deuterocanonicals. Has anyone seen this translation. Is it any good?

Also, for some reason, I’ve become interesting in getting the “complete” King James Version of the Bible (the one with the “Apocrypha”). Would it be a good addition to make to the small flotilla of Bibles on my shelf?

Oh, one last version. I bought a version of the Bible called the Christian Community Bible Catholic Pastoral Edition. It has an imprimature from the Bishops Conference of the Philippines. Has anyone heard of this version?

I saw the same NLT Catholic version as well… I am not sure if it has an imprimatur though such as the French bibles which tend to have catholic and protestant versions of their own…

I would run screaming from the NLT in any version. discrepancies and problems have been amply documented elsewhere on this forum.

The Community bible you refer to was intended for mixed Spanish/English speaking congregations and for use in mission areas and now is a popular bible for Hispanic parishes, or being promoted that way. I have no direct knowledge but the Mexican sister who runs our adult education program does not regard it highly. The fact that it is promoted by some very liberal missionary orders, such as those who espouse liberation theology, is enough to make it suspect by me.
