I don’t ever recall Brady being that passionate in scoring a personal rushing touchdown like he was on that play. The commentators were surprised he didn’t throw out his shoulder on that spike since it was obvious he was being passionate and in someone’s face for that spike.

My 2 cents
I think that was a statement to the Bronco Defense, which had been doing their best to get Tom Brady’s face mask into the turf before he got anywhere near the endzone. If they had succeeded instead of him, they would have had a few fist pumps, too, and he wouldn’t have blamed them.

It’s football.

Yeah, I sort of wonder what his evangelical fans would think if he were this outspoken but incorporated signs of the cross and some actual Hail Mary’s into his routine. He might suddenly become unmentionable. 🤷

I don’t watch football, but I’ll give him props for at least being courageous.
Well, I'm one Baptist who admires Christians of every stripe who are excited about having our great Savior in their lives. And that would include Tebow even if he included the sign of the cross in his repertoire. Blessings, Rob :signofcross:

Good to hear.

I like Tim Tebow, and I was rooting for him yesterday.

However, as a Catholic, I am – just a bit – ashamed that, in my opinion, the original “Hail Mary” play was unlawful, and Armen Terzian’s crew should still be ashamed of the way it went down (Armen himself passed on a few years ago)

Kudos to you if you know what I am referring to.

Cowboys, Staubach (Catholic) to Pearson, 1975.

Good job, Dixieagle! Kudos to you, even more so for knowing that Staubach is Catholic!

But Armen Terzian still should have thrown a flag…it was offensive pass interference all the way, costing the Vikings their best shot at a Super Bowl.

Tebow is an amazing man, but being a fan of the Kansas City Chiefs, as long as Tebow plays for the donkeys, I mean Broncos, I will never root for him on the field. :D:p

GO PATRIOTS!

Tim Tebow may be an outspoken evangelical and a good role model for them, but I cannot admire a man whose family has made it their life’s mission to convert Catholics to their own brand of Protestantism.

They mostly work in the Philippines, a country that is 80% Catholic. According to Tim Tebow’s father, though, “In a country of 92,000,000, it is estimated that over 65,000,000 Filipinos have never once heard the gospel of Jesus Christ.” That makes it pretty clear what they think of the Catholic faith.

Please read his father’s web site: btea.org
On their “history” page you can see Timmy Tebow doing his family’s work.
Thanks for the link. When I think of how devout so many Filipinos are, and how long the Catholic church has been working in that area, it does concern me that this family has made it their life’s work to convert Catholics away from their faith. Notice how they carefully say “evanglical church” since they can hardly say that every village in the Philippines doesn’t have a church “of any kind”.
The Philippines, a country comprised of over 7,100 islands, has historically been an area of abuse and conquest. Of the 86 million Filipinos, we estimate that over 65 million have never once heard the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Currently, there are 41,949 barangays (villages), and 26,675 (64%) of them have no evangelical church of any kind.
Praying that the entire Tebow family converts to the one true Catholic Church and stops dividing Christians against each other!

I don’t doubt that the elder Tebow is discounting Catholic missionary activity as not being the Gospel, but there may also be areas of the Phillipines that are shocking in their lack of catechesis, as well.

I have met a man baptised Catholic (raised in North America) who literally did not know the Christmas story…I mean, he didn’t understand why people kept saying that Jesus was Jewish. The fellow’s parents had given him no catechesis and quit attending Mass when he was still small. When a date asked him what denomination he was, he had to go home and ask his parents. When you take religion out of schools, it is possible to grow up without even knowing the cultural bare bones of Christianity! It would not be a stretch to say that a Catholic like that has not heard the Gospel.

The NFL, like the Marines, is full of Catholics (and Baptists), including many who are serious about their faith. Tim Tebow is hardly the first NFL player to take a knee after a game, and he’s undoubtedly meeting Christians of many denominations who are just as serious in their love of Christ as he is. Let’s hope that this has already broadened his appreciation of the Catholic Church.

Very true that there are many places - including the US - where children grow up “Christian” or “Catholic” without any real knoweldge of their faith. I think it is quite a stretch to say that 65% of Filipinos have never heard the Gospel story though. And yes, now that Tim is in more diverse surroundings, he likely is seeing that there are many Catholics as well as protestants of other denominations who are living the gospel.
