I have a habit of being online or on the phone too much. I waste time. How can I manage my time wisely? I want more excitement in my life. It’s I go to work and come straight home. Talk about work and then watch TV. I’m always happy when my mother visits though

Hello.

Me too.

Have you tried a book on time management or taken a course? That may help. Since salvation and being with God needs to be the number one priority, the things that get you closer to that goal may be the ones you want to concentrate on.

My two cents.

Perhaps you are just bored.

Take a class. Get a new hobby. Volunteer somewhere. Learn a new skill. Help your mom with something. Volunteer somewhere. Purge your belongings. Clean your house. Plant a garden. Volunteer somewhere.
Go to mass more than once a week.

Volunteer your time to others.
You won’t have time to feel empty inside if you are helping those that Have less than yourself.

We are all wasters of one thing or another. I believe there is nothing better than trying to increase health of the body, mind and spirit. I’m sure you are quite aware of ways to do this. The key is to begin. One step leads to the next etc… Tapas (discipline) is what is required.

I think it’s good to fast from screens for a while. I don’t own a cell phone, so that’s one screen I don’t have to deal with. I just resigned from being the treasurer at a co-op gallery I’d been a part of for a very long time. Between that, my full time job and teaching I didn’t have a lot of spare time, but I was surprised at how much I could get done and still have time to do the things I love most (chasing birds). Now that my gallery duties are gone I’ve found I have a little more free time which I’ve filled with some very long, slow walks. It’s done me a lot of good. Silence and solitude are important to me.

Joyce, if all you do is work and come home to TV, I might suggest the other posters that have suggested some volunteer work are spot on. Volunteer in some worthwhile causes or institutions, especially with children or those less fortunate ( things like St. Vincent de Paul, library literacy programs for kids (5 too 10) and the like may well fill you up and eliminate any empty feeling you might have.
C.S. Lewis in his classic, The Screwtape Letters makes a good point. Satan always tries to make one look inward; what’s in it for me. The Lord exhorts us to look outward, to embrace others. I have always found that helping others, whether on a one on one basis, or thru an organized charitable event, ends up helping me almost more than those it aids.
I answered your posts on another thread regarding your desire for passion and someone to love. I might offer you that if your work and TV are your only outlets, you might be kind of empty inside. And no man wants to come home to an empty house.
Shalom
