This Christian believes this is a very strong case against the catholic church. Can anyone explain each verse especially the last one.

1 Tim 4:1 Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits (like mary), and doctrines of devils;
1 Tim 4:2 Speaking lies in hypocrisy; having their conscience seared with a hot iron;
1 Tim 4:3 Forbidding to marry, and commanding to abstain from meats*, which God hath created to be received with thanksgiving of them which believe and know the truth.

God Judges the heart, Mary and the Saints are not devils or seducing spirits unless you need an easy way to support Catholic bashing.

1 Tim 4:2 Speaking lies in hypocrisy; having their conscience seared with a hot iron;

Mine is seared from all of the Catholic bashing I did as a protestant know it all.
1 Tim 4:3 Forbidding to marry, and commanding to abstain from meats*, which God hath created to be received with thanksgiving of them which believe and know the truth.

The Church seems pretty pro marriage to me, and I think Catholics like Big Macs like all other God fearing people. (with the exception of certain times for Godly reasons)

But seriously these verses can apply to anything from Satanist to Astrologist to Tarot card readers. To lump the Catholic Church in under these warnings is a crime and an unrealistic judgmental act of ignorance to Gods truth.

Deesypal,

It is a mistake to believe anything that Catholic bashers post or say. To them missleading or untruthfull statements are a way of life. The truth is second to bashings the Catholic Church.

I have written many times to corret lies they have written. Not many even repond to my emial and when they do it’s usually just to say they know the truth and I don’t. Hum? the anti-Catholics know more about Catholics then Catholics? Better tell the Pope!

Context, context, context!!!

Just back up a few verses (remember the chapter breaks aren’t in the original):

“15] if I am delayed, you may know how one ought to behave in the household of God, which is the church of the living God, the pillar and bulwark of the truth.
16] Great indeed, we confess, is the mystery of our religion: He was manifested in the flesh,
vindicated in the Spirit,
seen by angels,
preached among the nations,
believed on in the world,
taken up in glory.” 1 Tim 3

The church is the very “pillar and bulwark of the truth”, after which Paul gives a brief summary of the key articles of the faith. But
“Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith … etc.” The Spirit prophecies that some will depart from the faith taught by THE CHURCH, specifically the articles of faith outlined in the preceding verse (3:16). Taking 4:1ff IN CONTEXT, it simply cannot be prophecying that the CHURCH itself would fall into apostasy!!!

I have run into these sites by accident,some of them make you think it is a Catholic site.Then you go in I can take certain scripture and twist them into whatever I want them to say.The arian-nazi group does it and they will “prove” their point with scripture.JW’s does it,mormans do it.But,what do they lack that we have?Peter.We have an unbroken line of apostles,Did you know St.Peter is buried underneath the alter in Rome?Jesus says the gates of hell will NOT prevail against Holy Mother Church.Another thing that I have noticed on a personal level NO Other Church has been attacked as much,and this is by everyone it seems.Jesus also said we would be persecuted.I reflected on a recent anti-catholic attack that I went through,and thought to myself,she hates the Catholic Church as much as satanist.Satanist hate Christians in general but Catholics especially.Why?They recognise the enemyIf we were no threat to satan they would not be against us.Jesus Himself was accused of gaining power from demons and he said a house divided against itself can not stand.God Bless and I hope this put your mind at ease
