Tips for making a crown for Virgin Mary

I have a little statue of Blessed Virgin Mary holding Jesus. It is made in France and crystal. I really like this statue because I received it a day before my total consecration to Blessed Virgin Mary. I didn’t ask for this statue from my co-worker, but 3 years ago, I wish I had the statue. 😃 All of a sudden, she wanted me to have it.

I want to make a little crown for her but it is hard. It is because the statue’s head is about the size of my thumb. Is there any crown being sold at Catholic store?

When the kids and I did ours, we made it out of wire, and attached paper flowers, leaves, and stars to it. It looks pretty good, actually. 🙂

Go to a craft store instead Water, you’ll have better chances of finding delicate wire to work with such a small size. I’d love to go with you, I adore little projects like this! What you want is called florist wire, it comes in several different guages, in green or in silver. Or, you can just purchase a bundle of little silk flowers and wind them up into a crown, the stems are usually already wired.

Honestly the craft store will be much better than Home Depot! Here in Houston we have Hobby Lobby and Michaels, you may have the same stores in Austin too. Also, JoAnn’s fabric store may have some materials you can use as well.

Have fun! Would you be able to post a picture when you have your statue crowned? I’d love to see it!

made ours from florist tape and small flowers that come in packets on green florist wire
