For a while now, I am wondering if we are supposed to bow when the book of gospels is raised during mass? I see that a couple of people do and most don’t.
What to do?
It’s not prescribed, but anything representing Christ is appropriate to bow toward in reverence for the Lord. We do so for the cross in procession (traditionally), the altar during Mass (or outside of Mass when the tabernacle isn’t in view), etc. The Gospels would fit in the same category.
