I was thinking after hearing today’s epistle. Should one pray for death to be with Christ? Or should one instead suffer for Christ as much as possible?

I think that our prayer should be that we know God’s will for us. If that means dying young, or to suffer greatly for Him, then that is what He wants to do. I think that we should also pray for the courage to live the life He wants to give us.

Life is precious. I believe Jesus wants us to live life as an example to others - as a light shining brightly (rather than under a bed - nothing hidden stays hidden) and to spread the gospel (one of his last instructions to his disciples) to others. Life will undoubtedly include periods of suffering - but Christ said if you want to follow me, you must take up your cross and follow me (e.g., we will suffer, as Christ had sufferred).I was thinking after hearing today’s epistle. That being said, we need not fear death for we know that when our time comes, we will be with Christ in heaven.

That’s what I thought St. Paul was talking about when he said that being with God is the greatest thing, but you need me now and Christ wants me to be here. So should we take out of that reading that wants us where we are to fulfill his will?
