I was reading one of this man’s paranoid tracts about the Pope and the Terri Schiavo case.

He implies that Pope JP2 advocated removing the feeding tubes, but changed his mind after he himself was given feeding tunes.

I know that this man is insane, but I was also curious if there was any truth in his claim.

After all, we should have nothing to fear in asking such questions.

Thanks in advance,

I do not who Tony Alamo is. Can you please give a link to him and/or his statement. I am curious to see on which facts he is basing his statement.

He is a nutcase who has his own anti-Catholic ‘ministry’.

I must warn you that this is offensive and disturbing reading.

Whilst I realise that it is most likely nonsense, I just wanted to know if there was any truth whatsoever in what he (Alamo) said, that is, that the pope changed his own tune on the issue of feeding tubes.

Here is his ‘tract’: alamoministries.com/content/english/TerriSchiavo/shallweshow.html

And here is some information from *Wikipedia *on him: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tony_Alamo

And a Catholic Answers article on him: catholic.com/thisrock/1990/9010fea1.asp

There is absolutely no truth to his claim. Pope JP2 spoke out against what was happening to Terri long before he fell ill and needed the feeding tube. It’s just ridiculous.

Well, he actually was ill for a number of years with the Parkinsons’, so probably before the Terri Schiavo case. But if anything that would make it more likely that his stance was consistently against removing feeding tubes from those who need them - since he would’ve known for years that there was a strong possibility of him needing one himself one day.

Thanks Masondoggy.

I thought as much but just wanted to check.

This Alamo guy spews out lots of ridiculous conspiracy theory nonsense.

Because I was curious!
*Why *would you even consider it to be true, knowing what you know of JPII and his consistent pro-life stance on all issues? Knowing the Church is consistent on it’s teachings?

Why would you give it credence knowing all the Vatican documents available at the click of a mouse, and this Alamo person referenced none of them?

You could have easily seen JPII’s stance on this going back years. And, yet, you ask this question here.

“Because I was curious” is a very flimsy reason. Why did you pick that out and have doubt about it and not any of his other claims?

Well that’s my wrist firmly slapped.

As an aside, I did not follow the Terry Case, nor did I follow anything Pope JP2 might have said about it.

It’s a free country, I can ask whatever questions I want. If you are so offended, you needn’t lower yourself to bother replying to such a stupid thread.

You’ll have to excuse him. He’s a real crabby pants today.

Alamo is a certifiable kook. Don’t waste your time reading that garbage!

Oh I know that. He is clearly insane. But just because he is a nutcase, doesn’t automatically mean that *everything * he says is untrue, just most of it!

Thanks Katie btw!

YW…I think the poor boy needs a date or something. He’s been really crabby today.

YW = ?

Well, on reflection, it may seem a bit silly that I even felt the need to ask the question, considering the source.

But I thought this was interesting what 1ke said :

Makes me sound like an anti-Catholic, when the complete opposite is true!

I have to admit I do sometimes read things I shouldn’t, and so I was feeling like I needed someone to tell me there was absolutley no truth in that particular claim, which I myself had no way of proving either way.

Call me a little insecure!

YW = you’re welcome
And we have all been insecure at one time or another. It’s ok…really

Would you please be so kind to explain why you ask here if that it is true or not? Why don’t you go directly to the source of the question and ask for evidence? A post like this (especially from a new member) can and probably would appear as fishing for inconsistencies in the knowledge of the Catholics in this forum. If I have an issue with someone’s statements I go directly to the source. If they do not answer they loose credibility and what they said is probably false.

Gee lighten up. Some of you Americans need to get out more. I joined this forum, I ask one simple question (because I dared to assume that there might be catholics who can answer my question, who will be more knowledgeable and experienced than I), and suddenly I’m Dr Evil. Get a life. Maybe you should huddle up to Mr Alamo and enjoy his paranoid little world, where everyone is out to get you.

 (again)

PS Because of the sh*te treatment I’ve received on this forum, I (a committed Catholic, loyal to the Magisterium, btw) won’t be back. Cheers.

Are you saying ask the Pope? Dead isn’t He?
Ask Alamo? Like he is going to tell you the truth…

A priest once told my class “There is no such thing as a stupid question only stupid answers”
I guess he was right.
