I really enjoy listening to these gentlemen, but I feel both go out of their way to include statements that make it a point to take a jab at Catholic beliefs, some subtle, others not so subtle. These statements seem intentional because they really add nothing to the point(s) they are making concerning their own beliefs.

Anyone else notice this or am I a few bricks short of a load?

I only know about Charles Stanly. There is no Catholic radio here, only Evangelical and he comes on as I’m driving home.

The is just my subjective impression of course but lately he has been jabbing at the Catholic Church in relation to “once saved always saved”. The interesting thing about it is that he trips himself up theologically when he does that. Anyone with rudamentary knowledge can see thru it. And when he trips himself up theologically he also trips up verbally, he gets tongue tied and hesitates and stammers. But again maybe that’s just me being overly sensitive. No disrespect to him intended.

I hope you get a chance to hear Tony Evans. He can preach like there’s no tomorrow, and from what I can gather that’s the message he’s preaching. Awesome though, just awesome, well except for the anti-Catholic stuff.

mark,
You make a very good point. God does use these preachers in some ways. I heard Chip Ingrham talk about the horrors of hell and it scared the…hell out of me. John MacArthur even talked about we must do works of mercy.

I think the “end-time” stuff is very misplaced. For various reasons I think the end of the world is a couple of thousand years away, so I don’t worry about it. What I worry about is that MY end-time could be tonight and that is what preachers should be emphasising.

Well, what do you expect—they are both evangelicals.

Still I wish there were some priest that could preach with such vigor.
Tony Evans you can hear almost without a radio 🙂

I read one of Charles Stanley's books. He is okay, but I disagree with him about his claim that HE personally who went to hell. Only God knows that.

Whoops that is “he personally KNOWS who is going to hell.”

I guess He believes hes going to be seated at the right hand of Jesus to make those judgements.

We all know classes of people who are goig to hell…

And again I say unto you, It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle, than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God. Mat 19:24

and types of sin that send people to hell…

But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death. Rev 21:8

but how can he say he knows specific persons final destination? That’s unBiblical - only God knows the heart.

There are some priest who can preach like Tony Evans, Father Carapi! Evans is good but he has weak bible interpretation. But he can get the juices flowing!

I watched Dr. Stanley this morning before I went to Mass and his sermon was awesome but towards the end of the serman he interjected his “saved by faith alone message”. 😦 😦 😦 😦

I still like his sermons though. He talked about forgivness. 🙂

Blessings to all,
Sharnnin
