IMHO there are too many threads in these forums concerning gays. It’s as though they are the number one undermining influence on society today. Many continue to be pro life but nobody mentions that aspect.

When you consider that this church has covered up abuses with minors by priests for the last sixty or seventy years, it seems like hypocrisy to be pointing out the faults of others. I remaion a celibate person today but having also a psychiatric illness I cannot possibly tell others how to live their lives and I won’t.

Everyone praised the decision that a heterosexual landscaping firm did not have to service a homosexual couple’s home. Would they feel the same if the situation were reversed? What if a homosexual company refused to work for a heterosexaul couple? Would the decision uphold their right to do so?

I do not always agree with the gay community but then again I don’t always agree with the religious right either.

Jimmers, please understand that the large number of gay threads probably have more to do with the media’s obsession than that of the “religious right”. Most of these ‘gay threads’ are linked to a newspaper story. Many in the media bring up homosexuality all the time because they know the more the public is exposed to it, the more they will view it as normal. They also know that the more stories they do on Christians not accepting this lifestyle, the more opportunities they have to paint us as evil intolerant bigots. From reading your past posts, i know of your struggle and admire your striving for chastity. Although it’s irritating to bear, i would ask you to just filter out as much ‘gay overkill’ as you can and when that fails, just see it as another cross to take up for love of our Saviour.:o

😃

I’ve noticed this too, though I think it goes in cycles, depending upon what stories hit the news and when.

.

I have seen groups at Pro-life events so even though they struggle with one sin does not mean they endorse all other sins.

I would echo what you say here. The large number of posts has to do with the media’s and gay activists incessant attempts at endorsing the lifestyle as normal. Faithful Catholics get fed up when this stuff (normalizing gay relationships and equating them with sacramental marriages) when it is pushed to scary limits… and by scary I mean this recent trend by gay activists and their ilk as equating anyone who disagrees with their agenda as hateful, homophobic, and bigoted. It’s emotional blackmail, plain and simple. On the other hand, I appreciate goofyjim’s committment to chastity. In general, people with same-sex attractions should be treated with the utmost respect and dignity and deserve this as God’s children…but, the truth has to be adhered to no matter what - even if it offends some. We must always try to be as charitable as possible but never waver on the truth.

It sure as heck is an obsession of the religious right and, unfortunately, some Catholics. The way people use the term “gay agenda” it sounds like they believe there is some secret committee of homosexuals that meets once a month to decide what they’ll do next to destroy civilisation.

Why would they think we’re bigots? Just because Christians have done nothing but condemn and persecute them for centuries? Quelle outrage!

And why are the “gay stories” relegated to the Culture of Death forum? To me the culture of death = abortion, euthanasia, stem cell research, ABC, &c. How homosexuality fits in with those issues I don’t get.

The culture of death includes “marriage” and how it is defined.

The Gay Agenda (okay, bi agenda?):
8:00 - hit snooze button
8:08 - shamble/mince out of bed into the shower
8:45 - grab something to eat
8:55 - head into work
11:50 - lunch meeting at a nice cafe to plot downfall of Western civilization (alternate Tuesdays)
1:00 - back to work
4:30 - stop working, shoot the breeze with office friends
5:00 - go home, making sure to call at least one person ‘dahling’ on the way
6:15 - call up family, frantically wondering what to get them for Christmas
7:00 - eat an absolutely exquisite dinner, perhaps watch a movie (movie should be about a troubled gay person overcoming societal disapproval, best if it knocks organized religion too)
9:30 - chat with friends
12:00 - return to bed, well-satisfied with another productive day working towards a new, gay Dark Age

😃

heh, I don’t either – it seems that the Culture of Death simply encompasses everything people really disapprove of here, whether or not anyone can be said to be killed. Why can’t articles about gay people doing gay things just go in Secular News? Or, for most of them, nowhere – people aren’t special just 'cause they’re gay, how is all this news?
