I’ll echo what the others have said. I’ve recently made a return to the Catholic faith (thanks be to God) after being led astray by the occult. I’m a traditionalist, too (I attend Novus Ordo, but a fairly conservative parish) and I get similar comments. Especially from friends that knew me before. They say I’m “intolerant” or have “extremist” views.
I don’t see that at all, and we should not be ashamed of being Roman Catholic! Pope John Paul 2 spoke out against “cafeteria Catholics” who picked and chose what doctrines they liked and left the rest. I think you should be proud of yourself for trying your best to live your faith to the fullest. It’s hard not to let them get to you, but try. There’s many others like you out there.
