Too young for earrings!

My daughter is six and her ears aren’t pierced. In a way I regret not getting her ears pierced when she was a baby just because it would have been so easy. But, my thinking was that it’s her choice to pierce her ears. I have no problem when she decides to do this, but for now she is afraid of the pain.:o
 
I had my girls’ ears pierced between 9 and 12 mos. No problems.

The now 21 yr old has never been big on ear rings. I doubt she changes her often.

My now 16 yr old LOVES ear rings and always has. She wanted big hoops when she was young. “Sorry honey, but if the hoop is big enough to be a bracelet, you can’t have it!” --KCT
 
My granddaughter had her ears pierced for her third birthday, and no problems.

Because of her bravery I had mine pierced two weeks later–I’m her 59-year-old grandfather:yup:

Lol, your sixteen-year-old sounds like me! I used to only wear hoops and my mother would tell me, “That’s big enough to be a bracelet! No way!” I still wear hoops all the time, but I also wear other kinds. Lol, if nothing else, I always wear earrings, even if I’m wearing jeans and a T-shirt and no makeup (though that’s changing! Being in the city made me start wearing pretty clothes!)
If I don’t wear earrings, it’s because I’m working out or I have a game. Otherwise, I feel naked without them!

My mom used to have 3 in each ear and my dad has one ear pierced. I was six and my sister was three when we had them done but we both have had to get them redone. A friend of mine chooses not to have hers pierced while others of mine have noses and bellybuttons pierced. I think parents need to make the call how old their child is when they get them done and of course, wearing earrings is a personal choice after that. Personally, even if I go without any other jewelry, I’ll wear earrings because I just can’t go w/out something in my ears. Otherwise, I feel like the world can see the holes and I don’t like that.
 
As a Filipina, it was traditional to have infant girls get their ears pierced. My godmother, a nurse, did both my ears and my sisters just days after we were born. Instead of a stud, she used sterile string in our ears while it healed. The only problems I had with my piercings was when I wore metals that irritated my skin. Unfortunately (or fortunately, depending how you look at it), I cannot wear gold metals less than 10 karats, or else I break out into a nasty rash!
 
My birth mom had mine pierced when i was 4/5mths and i rarely wear earring now mainly because Im allergic to anything thats not at least 18k!!! (V sensitive ears!!!) But i did go through the faze of having many holes I had seven in one (including the little sticky outty bit in the middle(that hurt like hell!!!) and 4 in the other but when it came to applying for jobs a couple of years ago they all came out! And as for makeup I refused point blank to wear it until i was 18 I just dont think girls need it - I never had spots like my other girlfriends and I believe that this is because I never wore makeup!

I dont think pierced ears makes your girls any less young although i will say the longer you leave it the less chances they will get at least in schools over here because they have to be taken out for swimming or gym!

Good luck - with girls pierced ears is probably the ‘easy’ battle in a good few years it will be designer jeans baby T’s boys and makeup!
 
Make it a special occasion and have it done when they get their period. That is what our family does.
