Could someone please explain the Catholic teaching on the temple veil that tore in half at the death of Christ, in comparison to a non-catholic view that lends itself to permitting personal interpretation of scriture.
I have a wonderful relationship with my uncle who loves Christ and is a faithful Baptist. He used this part of scripture to refute the role of our priests and the authority of the papacy.
He is a humble and good man who is trying to be supportive of my conversion and answer to God’s call to enter religious life. I find my self at a loss in explaining our personal acceptance of Christ and also that “we’re all in this together” as the mystical body.
Even posing this quesion I find myself at a loss-- Any (name removed by moderator)ut is appreciated.
Thanks—Kate- onaquest–to share the joy of faith with her uncle.
