Greece is in the news!

Which private banks have loans Greece it billions?

How much does Greece owe?

I know that the governments of Germany and France are making demands on how to run Greece. Are the governments the creditors?

Are banks and other institutions the creditors?

Do creditors to other countries tell the countries how to tax, when to retire and so forth?

Who are our principle creditors?

Do they, in order to guarantee they get their money back, inform us as how to tax US?

If any person can find who the principal creditors are for Greece’s debt.

The governments of France, Germany and others are leading the talks, but they, I don’t think, are not the creditors. Are they?

It seems this is a monumental social justice issue.

THANKS!

Oh, I have tried to find it but have been unable.

God bless!

I did a Google search on “who does Greece own money to?” And got back a break down of the financial entities and approximate amounts.

ThinkingSapien:

Which companies, banks or corporations are owed?

Thanks!

What do you all think will happen to the world economy when it eventually becomes evident that they actually will never be able to pay?
Nothing will happen, except that they will just loan Greece more money. Otherwise, Greece may turn to Russia for help, and the EU would not like that.

Concerning what will happen, I do not know. Time will give us the answer.

What I find troubling is that we are not accurately inform as to whom a country owes the money.

We can see, however, that powerful governments to the negotiations.

They do the bidding of corporations. In this case, the creditors through governments are telling Greece how to tax, when to allow governmental to retire and so forth.

My questions would center around the U. S. Is our $ 17,000,000,000,000.00 doing the same to us?

No, there’s no mystery with regard to the US debt. China owns the lions share.

I think the agencies that loaned Greece and other countries money in the form of a bailout. Were the IMF, the European Central bank, and the European Commission. It’s important to remember that actions taken by the USA led to the great recession which tipped so many into insolvency.

Recall that each nation which joined the EU agreed to operate a certain way. Greece was perhaps the biggest offender in their spending and failure to collect taxes. So, they dug their own grave and are responsible for their own situation.

It’s pretty clear to all that corporations have a great deal of influence in the actions of the USA. Only a civil war is likely to change this. As Catholic’s we are watching the culture war lost before our eyes. There was an interesting article about this, if I can find it I’ll post it later. But the main point is corporations are only concerned with profit. They will do nothing to endanger their making of same. So, when a moral question like say the defense of marriage is brought up. They do not champion a moral stance they champion what will make them the most money.

There has been as we see here in this thread. A great deal of misinformation spread about our (USA) dept. It’s about equal with out Gross Domestic Product (GDP). The only time it was higher than the GDP was after WWII. I think all will agree we came off quite well after that. How? We invested in our nation. We educated the citizens, we built great projects, and we did business.👍

Now while we are in dept up to our GDP. We can field the most powerful army the world has ever seen. We lead in technology, and welcome immigrants (both legal and otherwise). Our future assisted by low fuel costs and a little progressive thinking could be quite bright. WE just have to have the will to make it happen.

I think there’s a lot of people in the UK right now who are glad the UK didn’t take the Euro.

I think there are a lot of people in the UK terrified we’ll come to our senses and re-institute Glass-Steagall. 😉

That is Treasure Investment Securities likeTreasurey Bills, T-Bonds, etc. as sold by Broker-Dealers. It’s like stock buying in a company.

The U. S. debt is $ 17,000,000,000,000.00.
China’s share is 7.6% give or take.
