Let’s be honest: the “marketing of evil” wasn’t the Second Vatican CouncilVatican II again. The scapegoat. The false cause of the distortions in the liturgy and the concerted efforts to create distortions in society and elevate them to “good.” No, that is wrong. The Marketing of Evil began in earnest in the 1970s.
(which is what I think you’re saying here). The “marketing of evil” was in the efforts of folks who – attempting to instantiate their pet projects – claimed that their assertions were “in the Spirit of Vatican II”. To a large extent, they were not. They weren’t even close. But, those were the days before the internet, and as a result, folks didn’t have the kind of access to documents that we have now. So, back then, when someone said “Vatican II tells us to do this”, we replied, “well, ok… if you say so.”
The scapegoat isn’t Vatican II. The blame should be laid at the feet of those who misrepresented what the Second Vatican Council actually asserted. Yes – “the liars lied”… and we bought it hook, line, and sinker.
