I grew up in a Catholic family, and like so many cradle Catholics today, I have lots of family members and extended family members that have fallen away from the faith. They are living essentially pagan lives. I also have family members who are lukewarm and could use a spiritual B12 shot in the arm.

I know I have to be mindful about the care my own soul as well. I too am a sinner. I’ve heard it said (by a priest), that ‘no one goes to heaven or hell alone because we take others with us.’

So, I’d like to dedicate this thread to hearing about what others are doing to help themselves and their loved ones along. So what are you doing along these lines? 🙂

I have the exact same issue. I am the only convert to Catholicism. My wife and only daughter are still Protestant and since my conversion only attend church occasionally.

There is always Saint Monica, whose son Augustine was away from the faith for 30 years.

There’s also a green scapular, I am not sure about that I would have to research that one more.

You may have posted this in the wrong forum…I doubt there are methods specific to those calling themselves Traditional Catholics.

Trying to keep myself in the state of grace by frequenting Confession so that I can better witness to my family and friends without feeling like a hypocrite and praying to the Blessed Mother every night for all those in my family and all of my friends who are lukewarm in their Faith, or not even Catholic at all.

There is so much evil in the world, and so many souls that are falling into hell because no one is praying for their conversion. If all of us focus on ourselves and our own families and friends, at least we can make a difference in the lives of those we care about most.

The Blessed Mother ALWAYS hears our prayers (“Remember O Most Gracious Virgin Mary, that never was it known, that anyone who fled to thy protection, implored thy help, our sough thy intercession, was left unaided”) and I think in the situations where hope seems lost for a family member or friend, the best course of action is entrusting that person to her care and knowing that she will orient that person’s soul to be receptive of God’s grace. Even if that moment doesn’t come until the very hour of death, we can be assured that every Hail Mary we offered to the Blessed Mother and implored her to “pray for us sinners now and at the hour of our death” she will remember and honor our devotion to her and her Son and intercede on behalf of our loved ones.

At Fatima, Our Lady said, “Pray for peace, do penance for conversion”. I have been trying to learn how to do penances and make them a more regular part of my life in hopes my loved ones will convert.

I have been doing a 30 Day Novena according to the 2 Divine Promises made to St. Faustina for several years. Why didn’t I begin this even years before? 👍

At the beginning of every rosary Consecrate your family to the Immaculate Heart of Mary.

In a another past post on CAF, a mother had seen her son slide from the faith. She fasted and prayed for a whole year. At the end of that year, her son not only came back but became a zealot for the faith.
