Traditional prayers in Eastern Rites & Orthodoxy

Just wondering, do Eastern Catholics and Orthodox share prayers in common with Roman Catholics, like the Hail Mary, Rosary, Divine Mercy, Stations of the Cross etc. Do they have Holy hours of Adoration, Bendediction and the like.
If not sharing the exact same prayers are there any counterparts that are similar, give expression to the same type of devotion. Just curious. I know different Rites have different liturgies and ways of celebrating sacraments, just wondering if there was any common ground?

I can only speak for Eastern (Catholic and Orthodox) Churches of the Byzantine Tradition; any Coptics, Maronites, Syro-Malabars, Syro-Malankaras, Assyrians, etc. will have to answer for their own Traditions.

Byzantine Christians do not, traditionally, have Stations of the Cross, Rosary, Holy Hours, Benediction, and the like, although “Eastern” versions of these things have crept into some of the Byzantine Catholic Churches as an attempt to “prove” their Catholicity. There are some devotions that are similar to Latin devotions, however. The Prayer Rule of the Theotokos could be called a “Byzantine Rosary,” although it does not enjoy the widespread popularity of the Jesus Prayer. Something somewhat akin to Litanies are the various Akathists, Paraklesis and Molebens (although Molebens are purely a Slavic tradition and not something belonging to the Byzantines following the Greek traditions).

What you will find within the Byzantine Tradition is a much stronger emphasis on the Divine Office (Liturgy of the Hours). Traditionally Vespers is offered at least every Saturday night, and Orthros (Matins) every Sunday morning. There are also various “Prayer Rules” such as Morning and Evening Prayers, Prayers in Preparation for Holy Communion, etc. that Byzantine Christians are encouraged to pray at home before their icon corner.

Here’s a link to a Ukrainian Catholic composer from Toronto Roman Hurko’s website containing samples of his personal arrangements to Byzantine Ukrainian chants, liturgies, hymns. On the hompage, click on “Sacred Music” in the left corner, then “Roman’s recordings” and then you are allowed to listen to some of the works he composed and arranged for vespers, Divine Liturgy, etc. Just posting in case some want to hear a “new”? and profound take or compositions on Ukrainian religious hymns. I think he directs one of the church choirs for one of our Ukrainian Catholic parishes in Toronto as well. Nice to see and hear.
