Haven’t seen a Votive Mass to the Virgin such as this in many years. I almost cried.

Of course, we do have Barney. I almost cried for that one too.

It is a beautiful video. thanks so much for pointing it out. It is a wonderful belated Christmas present.

It was an interesting and beautiful Mass. Actually, when he started the Introit I wondered what Mass he was saying but then I realized when he began the collect.

It was certainly different and awe inspiring to hear the Canon and particularly the words of Consecration, and the other silent prayers. But it was slightly funny to hear when he consumed the ablutions!

There were also some interesting different (presumably local) customs like ringing the bell during the minor elevation and the ringing during “Domine non sum dignus” in increasing number

The only thing was that it was like in the middle of a Low Mass and a Sung Mass with incense. Replacement of the Propers with hymns is envisioned by the 1965 missal but I don’t think the 1962 rubrics allow for it. And they had the Gloria in excelsis, and I don’t know whether that should have been included-was it first Saturday?

But they sang Christus Vincit! Love that one.

I’m glad the TLM floats your boat guys.

As y’all know there have been a number of filmed TLMs on places like youtube. I’ve watched them carefully, though unfortunately I’ve not had the opportunity to actually attend one - not too many around here.

The more I see of it the more it leaves me cold, as impressive as it looks. And the less I understand what the fuss is about.

Trust me, I loathe the Barney/clown mass/anything goes end of the spectrum a lot more. But there’s something just too dry about the way the priests and servers say their prayers and make their gestures during the TLM.

I almost want to say mechanical and robot-like although that’s taking it too far - perhaps veering a wee bit towards the monotonous. I’m not saying to don the clown suits, but geez couldn’t there be just a TINY bit of expression on the face and in the voice!

I think the fuss is about the denial of the TLM to those who want it.
While we are allowed, LifeTeen, Charismatics and any innovation that comes down the pike.

I like the reverent, by the books NO.

Nice video. Interesting to see (not to mention to hear everything that’s normally inaudible). But remember that they are excommunicated.

This is perhaps slightly off topic, but I hope you will accept it. The feast of Mary Mother of God is not a holy day of obligation in Australia. But one of our beloved city churches, St Francis, in Melbourne, was absolutely packed for the 5.30pm Mass honouring Our Lady’s divine maternity. The atmosphere was incredibly happy. This church also had Masses on the day at 8am, 11am, 12.05 am, all well attended. So isn’t it beautiful that Our Blessed Mother is honoured so enthusiastically, whether we are ‘obliged’ to attend Mass on January 1, or not?

There’s an NO parish here in Sydney (St Patricks at Circular Quay) that also had 8am, Noon and 5.30pm masses yesterday. It’s always been very well attended when I’ve been there, although sadly I wasn’t yesterday.

They have an absolute minimum of three masses each and every day with half an hour of confession prior to each - usually it’s more like six masses and five hours total of confession

And their twice-weekly public Novenas to Our Lady of Perpetual Help are jam-packed, which is beautiful 👍

A great blessing.

OMGoodness… Beautiful video!!! I am watching/listening right now… Thank God my co-worker went home sick so I could turn it up and listen to the beautiful music. My other co-worker popped in and was interested in it too… he is a Japanese Catholic… we both just sat there with our mouths hanging open unable to talk… truly beautiful! Neither of us speaks Latin but it was easy to follow!
