Wow, that was a lot of information. In short, yes, there will be a choir. The organist and the choir will be coming form St Francis de Sales for the mass. They are excellent. One of the reasons for the latin and chant is that we specifically wanted to limit the congregations involvement in the signing, basically because no one ever sings at these things. The choir is trained in this, and do a wonderful job. We are really blessed to have them at our wedding. Mark, I like you ideas.

Here is a link to the Lotti Missa Brevis that the choir master has suggested.

The priest that will be marrying us has also given permission for the Gloria to be included.

Now, I am just trying to find the propers of the day so that I can use the Gradual, Introit, Alleluia, and Communion propers.

I need to reread what you mentioned about the offertory, We will be using Ave Marie for the prayers before the Blessed Mother.
Will there be many people receiving communion? If so, you may also want to consider asking the choir to sing a motet or something like that after singing the propers. We used Faure’s “Ave Verum Corpus” which was set for the Soprano and Alto voices when we were married. The motet starts at around 3:13 time. Ours had organ accompaniment.

There is also always Mozart’s “Ave Verum Corpus” which we used as a prelude piece. A setting of the “Panis Angelicus” would also be lovely.

If you don’t want a soloist for the “Ave Maria”, you could use a chanted setting. Faure also set the “Ave Maria” which can be done as a solo or by soprano voices. (I’m partial to it because that’s what we used. heehee) The Maria Mater Gratie on the youtube is also lovely.

The Lotti is so lovely and you are so fortunate to have a choir at your mass. We also were fortunate to have a choir. The Gloria was permitted for our wedding as well, so we used Palestrina’s “Missa Aeterna Christi Munera” for the Kyrie, Gloria and Agnus Dei. We weren’t allowed to use the Sanctus. That was chanted in Latin, along with the Memorial Acclamation and the Pater Noster.

For the Gospel Acclamation, I would suggest a simple Alleluia chant to keep with the rest of what you’ve chosen so far for the liturgy. There’s the typical Gregorian one, it’s usually in G. There is also the Filii et Filiae Alleluia chant. (You’d recognize it in the “Ye Sons and Daughters” Easter hymn)

For the Recessional - although it’s fine to do the same as the processional, it might be nice to have something different than the processional.

We have decided to use the wedding nuptials for the EF found in my missal. Here are the selections. Let me know your thoughts.

Gathering Music - Panis Angelicus

Processional - Improvisation on Prelude & Fuge

Kyrie from Missa Brevis (lotti)

Gloria from Missa de Ángelis, Mass VIII

Gradual (chant) - Uxor tua Psalm 127:3

Gospel Acclamation - Allelúia (chant) - Mittat vobis Dóminus auxilium de sancto. Psalm 19:3, 133:3

Offertory (chant) - In te sperávi Pslam 30:15-16

The Sanctus form Missa Brevis (lotti)

The Agnus from Missa Brevis (lotti)

Communion - will be a short communion line - (chant), Ecce sic benedicétur. Psalm 128:4,6

Before the Blessed Mother - Ave Maria (schubert)

Recessional - Symphony No. 1: Final by Louis Vierne

Let me know what you think. We specifically wanted to stay away from the Mass of Creation stuff. This is as close to a Latin Mass as we are going to get, I think. We are both really looking forward to the mass.

I wouldn’t use the Panis Angelicus as the entrance processional, as this is more appropriate for the offertory. I would, however, use either the entrance antiphon for a wedding or, as strange as it may sound, the Litany of the Saints. There is a precedent for using the Litany of the Saints as the entrance processional as it was used for the Installation Mass of Pope Benedict XVI.

Did you try to see if your priest could do the wedding? All he has to do is simply call the pastor, get letters from your diocese stating that he is a priest in good standing over there and then get the pastor of the parish where you will be marrying to do a prior delegation form. It happens down here all of the time. That might actually work out better.

That’s a very good suggestion. The OP does mention that it’s done “for the guests” but I have yet to attend a wedding where, even standing up, my preferences took priority over the couple’s religious attachments. I think most invitees understand that it’s the couples’ day, not theirs.

I really like the idea of having the litney of the saints as the processional. It really is beautiful and i believe would be appropriate. I’ll have to speak with the organist about that.

As far as having the priest from our parish say the mass in latin, we have decided against that. The priest that will be saying our wedding is a good friend of my fiancée. He was her professor in college, helped her with her RCIA, basically been a long time friend. Also, we weren’t familiar enough with the latin mass when got engaged a year and a half ago. However, I would like to invite our priest from our parish as a guest, since we have become close, and we both think very highly of him. Would it be appropriate to invite him? He has been very supportive of our marriage. Thanks for your (name removed by moderator)ut.

You could ask him to concelebrate. Since he is a priest, his proper place is up on the altar with the celebrant. Perhaps this priest could do the vows in Latin.
