Have any of you ever heard of or been part of a “Traditionalist Prayer Group”?
And if so what you would think made the Prayer Group “Traditionalist”-the fact that all of you attended a Latin or Tridentine,Extraordinary Mass or more than that(like any particular customs or prayers)?
We had a group that lasted about 6 years. we all promoted the TLM and attended the Mass together. We would meet once a month and plan for the months Masses (altar boy schedules, organizing a choir, pray the Rosary in Latin. We even found a man to begin Latin language classes.
Then priest was transferred and the new priest did not want anything to do with the TLM. So the group kind of folded.
wow…corsair… I wish I lived close by I would have loved to be part of yr group…I pray the Rosary in Latin and only wish that I could start a prayer grp that would support prayer in the language of mother Church…Pax
Sorry to be late responding to you. Many of our group now travel up to 80 miles each way for our Latin Mass. We are now about 125 -150 strong. But because we are so scattered we just attend Sunday Mass and 1st Fridays. During the fall, winter and spring we have a monthly potluck/social hour. We have to rent a church which makes the OF folks happy because the fees reduce their monthly debt load.
Our host parish is pretty easy to work with. Only an occasional conflict. We keep asking the Archbishop to let us purchase a church, but so far he says he is praying about it. So we’ll see.
This past spring we had our first 1st. Communion class (3 children) but hey its a start. Lots of young folks and young married couples. Its very encouraging.
I alternate leading the Rosary with another gentleman on Sundays before Mass. 3 other adult men are in “Altar boy” training to supplement our 2 trained boys. We also have 2 very young boys in training. Our choir just got a new experienced director and we found an organist.
So things are looking promising . Please pray for us.
