Last Sunday I went to a TLM and the priest was celebrating the Mass for the Ascension. During the homily he said he had decided to celebrate it on Sunday, as there is only TLM Mass on Sundays, and since the local Church translated Ascension Thursdau to Sunday. What I’d like to know is if this is a licit practice, of transfering feasts in the old rite.
Thanks in advance!

I thought I saw that there was a provision (in SP or UE) that allowed for the EF to use the modern, updated calendar of feasts. Is that true, or is my memory wrong?

I have no idea, but it certainly seemed like the pastoral thing to do. This way those folks who will attend an EF, but can’t travel to one on a weekday (and didn’t have the obligation to attend Mass on Thursday in that diocese) can celebrate the Ascension.

I admit I was a little flustered when I had to flip back to Thursday in my Magnificat to get the correct Mass readings for Sunday.😉
